Rumor Gal Campfire; Thursday Evening

While he was getting pretty damn tired of the whole cabin thing, Chuck would have been stupid not to take advantage of an already lit fire and the new bag of marshmallows he found in the kitchen. He wasn't quite sure who kept buying the marshmallows but Zefron bless them.

Joint in his left hand, Chuck tried his hand at trying to flick marshmallows in the air with his right and catching them in his mouth. Turns out he had a talent for it.

[Mmm my hangover is finally subsiding. Ooooopen, of course]

"That's all right, he can keep them," Agnes told Edmund with a grin. "But I appreciate the thought. Thank you for the imaginary marshmallow -- I'll treasure it dearly."

"You're most welcome. I can offer you a poking stick though. Only the best of poking sticks, I assure you, should you want to test the fire." He seemed to talk a little more formally when someone addressed him as Your Majesty. Old habits die hard.

Agnes bowed again, smiling. "Thank you, Your Majesty, but I think the fire is working quite well and doesn't need to be tested."

"You don't have to call me Your Majesty, Agnes, though thank you for the courtesy. Edmund is fine. Being King doesn't seem to mean much in Fandom."

"To be fair, it doesn't mean much to me, either," Agnes told him. "I mean, proper respect where it's due and all, but we don't grovel well where I'm from."

"The title definitely isn't meant to make someone grovel," Ed protested, "and neither is the position. If one of my subjects tried to grovel, I'd tell them to stop being so daft and get to the point."

"That's good to hear," Agnes told him. "Not every ruler is so... enlightened." Life under the duke had sucked.

"A sad truth," Edmund acknowledged. "But not the case in Narnia anymore. We serve the people as much as they serve us. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement."

"As it should be," Agnes agreed. "If it's not, you get a new king."

"Or Queen," he agreed. "Although it's harder than it sounds."
