3rd Floor Common Room, Sunday Evening

William had no idea there was some sort of awards gala on the television tonight. And truth be told, even if he did know, it was unlikely that he'd be interested in such an event.

Instead, he flipped through the channels until he settled on a forensics documentary show. DNA analysis was fascinating stuff.

Well, it was. If you were a nerd.

Stephanie had taken advantage of a fairly quiet day to avail herself of the gym, and while her workout hadn't consisted of the kind of fighting training she'd have preferred (not in the middle of the day when people might see her doing it) it had been a pretty rigorous round of gymnastics work that had curbed most of her restlessness.

Still, that didn't mean she wasn't bored, or wanted to hole herself up in her room, so she took to wandering the dorms until she found a common room with some sign of activity.

"Really?" she asked, wandering in and flopping down onto the couch. "There's an awards show on and you're watching this instead?"

She didn't sound like she was complaining about that, actually. It was more of a good thing -- and hey, she could secretly learn something.

It was training. Totally.

"The Golden Globes," Stephanie supplied, then waved a hand. "Lots of celebrities getting dressed up and making appearances on the red carpet. People gossiping about the clothes. Awards for best actor in a movie. It's all very big and pointless. You're not missing anything."

Hank wandered in and promptly turned up his nose. "Awww, MAN! You're getting science all over everything!!!"

"Well. Someone who isn't scared of being called a nerd," Stephanie remarked, leaning forward. "There's not many guys who would call DNA analysis their idea of a good time."

Tim did, but, well. Tim.

Bruce was on his way back to his room after a quick dinner in town when he decided to check out the common rooms.

Thankfully, somebody had a similar taste in TV shows as he did. "William. I assume you're controlling the TV tonight. Excellent choice."

[identity profile] i-am-the-rat.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
...Well, right.

"Is that a problem? IS THAT A PROBLEM?!?! Of COURSE it's a problem, Mr. Science! You're not supposed to have SCIENCE on TV!!! You're missing the POINT!!!"

"Stephanie Brown," she replied, reaching out to shake his hand. "Don't listen to anyone who tells you that like it's an insult. Smart people are a good thing."

"Now this is television I think I can like," Elphaba said as she entered. "It actually seems educational. Hello, William."

[identity profile] didntchewgrass.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
"I take it you don't like science, Hank?" Elphaba said, completely unsurprised by this.

Oh, DNA analysis! Wes' favorite!

Guess he fell into the nerd category, then. He walked briskly over to the couch, as if trying to make sure nobody beat him to a good seat. Yes, because he was the kind of person who thought that other people liked DNA analysis too.

He settled down on the couch, riveted. This was fascinating stuff.

"Oh," he said, noticing for the first time that there were other people in the room. "Hello."

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"I agree," Bruce said. "I don't go to enough movies to justify watching awards shows. But forensics? That's something I could gladly watch for a couple hours."

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
"This was your choice?" Wesley verified, only tearing his eyes away for a moment from the (exceptionally nerdy) program. "I have to commend you on your taste."

[identity profile] didntchewgrass.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
"I have an interest in any television program that isn't about girls desperately seeking romance or people acting like idiots," Elphaba said. "But sciences in general, I'm very interested in. Even if all this use of tik-toks is beyond me."

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
"They tend to be highly rated, too," Bruce said. "I wouldn't mind that, either, if they were even slightly accurate to the true procedure behind being a forensic scientist. But they aren't."

[identity profile] batwaffles.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Basically, yup," Stephanie replied, grinning. "Don't worry, I won't let that stop me. It's not a hobby of mine --" more like a career calling, but never mind that -- "but I think it's interesting."
