Janet smiled and waved to Molly as she came into the gym, dressed in workout clothes, and started stretching. If she was going to be stuck doing cheerleading, she should at least get back in good shape. A pulled tendon or torn ligament would hurt.

"How's it going?" she asked.

"Not too bad today." She sat down and leaned over one leg, her nose almost touching her knee. Janet hadn't realized she was this flexible. "I didn't want to go out running in the rain, so I thought I'd visit the gym for once."

"I used to be in better shape than this, but I let myself slack the entire year," said Janet, nodding in sympathy. "I have to make sure I don't pull something before the game. It looks bad if I injure something, given how many times I lecture everyone around me like a know-it-all about warming up before they work out." Janet had absolutely no idea she'd said that out loud.

"And I didn't make it to practice yesterday because I was working in the clinic." She wanted to apologize--just a little white lie--but for some reason, she didn't bother.

Janet nodded. "That would be good. I just hope I don't fall or do something to make myself look like a total idiot."
