Gym, morning before workshops

Still looking a bit worse for wear, Cameron was giving the tread mill a work out as he waited for Veronica to show up. He was pretty sure he was in here yesterday too, but he had a hard time remembering what exactly he had been talking about so he was going to put it down to post mummy invasion stress.

((As usual, the thread with Veronica is locked between them.

Worse for wear translation: the boy's got cuts on his face that look suspiciously like a mummy hand grabbed him in the face and there's bruises along his throat from getting choked.))

Veronica hadn't been able to fall back to sleep after hearing the radio broadcast and ended up spending that time reviewing her notes on her investigation of Tyler.

She got so wrapped up in those, that she was almost late for meeting Cameron.

"Sorry!" she apologized. "I got caught up in some reading. What's going on?"

She braced herself for his response, half afraid the truth spell hadn't worn off.

"Just some investigation stuff," Veronica said vaguely, not wanting to get into details in public.

Then she realized that she hadn't blurted out the entire truth and had to resist the urge to do a dance.

"So what are we..." she trailed off as she finally noticed the scratches and bruises all over Cameron's face and neck. "What happened?"

Veronica nodded. "Are you okay? And something easy is fine."

She shook her head at his "sort of fun" comment, but smiled nonetheless.

"That works," she nodded. "I kind of feel like hitting stuff today anyway."

"Thanks," Veronica said.

"I saw the posters you hung up the other day," she said. "Congratulations."

"Well, you're not going to do anything to warrent getting decked, are you?" Veronica asked, taking the gloves and putting them on.

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good for you," Veronica said. "There's nothing wrong with taking things slow. And I'm glad you guys got things worked out between you."

After checking to make sure Cameron had a good grip on the bag, she started hitting.

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mostly," Veronica said. "At least, I hope. I did something kind of stupid last night, but I think I managed to fix it this morning."

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Veronica smiled and continued hitting the bag. "Thanks. I'm pretty sure that what I did should work."

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sadly, this one's one I have to deal with on my own," she explained.

"I sort of sent someone an email last night and said some things I shouldn't have. I recalled the message this morning and I'm hoping that person didn't check their email before I recalled it."

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Depends on your email program," Veronica said. "Mine does. Of course, if the person already read it, it doesn't do much good."

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Veronica chuckled. "Considering the last line of the email was 'I'm probably going to regret this in the morning', I don't think they'd be that surprised."

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Veronica actually stopped hitting and considered that.

"That might work. I'm certain they don't know you can recall emails. If they did read it and then it's gone, they might think they imagined it. Which may be kind of mean, but is really actually for the best considering what I said."

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It was kind of easy to avoid eye contact when you could stare at a punching bag.

"I did, but it wasn't for the right reasons," she replied vaguely. It was obvious that no one really remembered what had happened and she didn't want a bunch of people going after Piper, so she wasn't telling anyone.

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, god, no," Veronica said. "But I wasn't in a clear frame of mind either," she admitted.

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Now that's something to consider," Veronica said, completely serious.

She took another break from hitting the bag. "Am I doing okay?" she asked.

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Veronica nodded and made a conscious effort to follow his instructions as she started hitting the bag again.

"So how'd you and Molly end up deciding to give things a try?" she asked, mostly because she didn't want Cam to start asking questions about her email again.

"Love doesn't generally wait until you're ready to deal with it," Veronica said. "And no relationship is easy. But if both people want to make it work, they generally can."

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Baby steps are good," Veronica said.

She took a few deep breaths. "Okay, I think I'm done for today, if that's okay with you."

[identity profile] marsheadtilt.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey, this was plenty useful," Veronica informed him, taking off the gloves and putting them away.

"I'll see you tomorrow in class."
