Dorm hallways, around lunchtime

Bel was skulking. He was too restless to stay caged in his room, but he didn't want to hang out in a common room like this, either. So he skulked, roaming the hallways, trying to avoid people, pausing every five minutes to try to force himself back into human form. So far, no luck.

This sucked.

Pippi is on her way back from lunch.

"Hi Bel," she said casually, "How ya doin?"

Bel blinked at her casual manner.

"Demon," he said, gesturing to himself.

Pippi tilted her head at him.

"Girl." she said, gesturing to herself.

"I'm stuck like this!" Bel flailed.

"Oh dear... That must be hard on your wardrobe." she said. "Has this ever happened before?"

"I usually can change back and forth, no problem," Bel said. "But I woke up like this and I can't change back."

"So you're like this forever now?"

"I'd better not be!" Bel flailed. "What would Phoebe say?"

"I love you?"

"She couldn't love this," Bel said, gesturing to his face and scowling.

Pippi punched in in the arm. It was a friendly punch of course.

"Don't be stupid."

"It just wouldn't be the same between us," Bel said sadly. "Not when I look like this."

"Well," she said looking over, "You would be something of a logistical nightmare if she were any shorter... But do you really think she cares how you look?"

"There's a big difference between being not so attractive anymore and looking like this," Bel protested.

"Yer right." Pippi nodded, "Because this? Would look smashing in a well tailored suit... Oh! Do you want to go shopping?!"

"Shopping?" Bel blinked. "I, um, have a workshop this afternoon."

"For clothes." she said, "That fit. I mean, it makes you unhappy so I hope you're not stuck like this forever, but as long as you are you may as well work it."

"Work it?" Bel said dubiously. "You think people could get used to me like this?"

"Victor was green and spiky." she started ticking off on her hands, "Mr. Wagner the librarian is blue and furry. Shiro is a cat person. Miss Becky is monocromatic. And half the people here have hair that in some way defies gravity. Being huge and red with black markings doesn't really make you stand out in the grand scheme of things..."

"But do you really think Phoebe would want to be with me...like this?" Bel said, frowning.

"Didn't I just tell you not to be stupid?" Pippi said with a sigh. "C'mon Bel, work with me here! Ya, we should definitely should go shopping for you. Nothing helps the ol' self-esteem like a swanky new on-som-ble."

"If you really think it will help," Bel said, still doubtful. "I guess we could try after Archery."

"Sure! Pamper yourself!" Pippi nodded. "I'll be in the 5th Floor Common room watching football prolly when you get out of your workshop."
