Basement pool, Thursday evening

Walter led Alphonse down to the basement, his arms laden with some things you likely wouldn't expect in this weather, including blankets, ice skates, his electric kettle, and what appear to be the makings for hot cocoa with marshmallows.

He dropped most of those things off to the side of the pool and looked expectantly at his roommate.

"Come on. I want to see you turn all of that to ice."

[ooc: Pool party! The pool has been frozen solid, the room should be not just cool, but downright chilly. Enjoy the relief from the heat with a few goosebumps. Open to all. Anyone who wants their character to have an excuse to be down here can handwave a phone call from Walter. It's possible he randomly grabbed the school directory and dialed.]

Alphonse snickered; approval was better than what he'd initially thought would happen, anyway. "I've been good! Though I have to admit this heat keeps me from wanting to do much of anything except complain."

"It does kinda take a lot out of you," Anders agreed. "And it's more humid than I'm used to it being, back home. But I think we were a little further away from the sun there, too."

"Well, there's a huge desert a little more ways east from where I lived, but I swear it never got this hot back home." Alphonse shuddered and pulled his coat further over his shoulders. "Can't say I know how close we are to the sun, though."

"Yeah, I don't know exactly either," Anders admitted, blowing on his hands a bit. "I never paid too much attention to that stuff in school back home, and they don't exactly teach about it here."

He shivered a little bit and zipped up his jacket. "Deserts scare me, kind of. All that sand."

"Sciences that deal with space and all that related stuff is actually pretty scarce where I come from. Not many people are in the field," Alphonse said. "And the desert is past the country's border, so I've never been to it. Not that I'd want to; it's a bunch of nothing along with the heat."

"Personally, I'd hate that a lot, myself," Alphonse agreed. "Though, as crazy as it sounds, I've heard it's best to wear long-sleeved clothing while under the sun like that. Maybe that might keep most of the sand off you?"
