Outside room 409 - Wednesday night

It was all quiet in the corridor and River could hear herself breathing. The dreams were still vivid in her mind, but they weren't noisy. They were deathly quiet. She was shaking uncontrollably, but finally managed a knock on Blair's door.

He had told her she could come. "Blair?"

"It doesn't go away," River replied, shaking in his arms.

"It's gone now." Blair said firmly. "I'm here and it's gone. Okay?"

He shifted them sideways a little and pointed into his room. "Let's go in and sit down."

River let Blair lead her into his room. His presence, his thoughts, made the dreams move a little further away. "Don't want to be alone."

"I second the no alone-time vote." Blair said, leading River into the room and towards his bed. He sat the two of them down and wrapped a blanket around River's shoulders. "All in favor, say aye. Aye."

"Motion passes. Looks like you're stuck with me." Blair grinned a little at River. "Do you want to get some rest?"

"You're good to be stuck with." River managed a smile. "Yes. Rest." She pulled the blanket tighter around her.

Blair moved to let River lay back on the bed and sat next to her, running his fingers through her hair soothingly.

The gentle touching gradually made the shaking go away, and River slowly drifted off into sleep. She felt safe, for now.
