Second Floor Common Room, a little after noon

Parker was talking as she entered the common room. "And this is the Second Floor Common Room, which is the best, of course. Anyone will tell you that. It got blown up once, but then it was fixed."

She flipped on the TV set and started looking for Smile Time or a monster movie.

And possibly other students to inflict wee tiny grown ups on.

Angela shuffled in, sniffling slightly. "Did we add a daycare class or something?" she asked, looking askance at the kids.

"Angela Chase," Angela said, hopping out of the way of the kicky foot. "Are you Ms. Frost's kid?" She didn't know the home ec teacher. Now she kind of hoped she never would, if her daughter was anything to go by.

"Mummy and daddy's kid," Emma agreed, since, well, she was. "Angela's not a stupid name," she had to admit reluctantly. "But red is still stupid!"

Angela managed to restrain herself from saying blond was stupid too by brute force. "Emma's a pretty name too," she said.

Okay, Angela was maybe not as stupid as her hair colour. "Is my name," Emma said, "And I'm precious so I got a pretty name. Aydienne and Cordellia got stupid names."

Emma really liked calling things stupid.

Angela couldn't exactly argue with that. "Yeah, but ..." She shrugged, giving up. It wasn't like she was this kid's mom. "I guess you should say it if you want."
