Second Floor Common Room, a little after noon

Parker was talking as she entered the common room. "And this is the Second Floor Common Room, which is the best, of course. Anyone will tell you that. It got blown up once, but then it was fixed."

She flipped on the TV set and started looking for Smile Time or a monster movie.

And possibly other students to inflict wee tiny grown ups on.

[so very very open: Jarod & Rose in tow just for starters]

"Detail?" Jarod sat on the floor and looked up at Jack. "What does that mean? And what kind of detail? And ewwwwwww, but I guess maybe, because Maureen likes boys now, and she useta think they were a little bit icky."

"Did she, now," he mused, filing that bit of info away for future use. "Attention to detail means," he paused, trying to figure out how to translate instinct into words, "means being aware of how the other persons feeling, figuring out what they like, how they respond to you, watching their reactions and altering your actions accordingly. It applies to a lot more than kissing."

"So it's like pretendering," Jarod said solemnly.

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe," he replied cautiously. "What's pretendering?"

[identity profile] jarodpretends.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Jarod sighed, sat up straight, and recited (again, with a slight Belgian accent), "Being a pretenderer is a great gift. It means I can become anyone I want to be, an' that I have a 'sponsibility to be good."

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Jack frowned at the slight accent, and kept frowning as he processed what Jarod had said. "And you can do that, become someone else?"

[identity profile] jarodpretends.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Jarod nodded. "Uh huh. Sydney says I'm the best."

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Jack smiled. "Sydney's a smart guy. I'm sure he's right. And you have to use this for good? To help people?" he asked, tipping his head to study him. "Big responsibility." But it did explain a lot about Jarod.

It was impossible to hang onto any sort of enmity towards Jarod in the face of that. Besides, he was just a kid, and Jack wasn't that mean. "That kind of sucks. Want to do something fun?"

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2007-02-17 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Which was good, except Jack wasn't sure what qualified as fun for someone this age, except that it didn't seem to involve girls. "I could make popcorn, we could watch a movie, maybe?" he suggested. "But I'm open to ideas."

[identity profile] jarodpretends.livejournal.com 2007-02-18 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Jarod yawned. Maybe Jack wasn't so bad. "What movie?"

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2007-02-18 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Jarod was much better company at this age. "Depends on what's on TV. Or I can go and grab the movies Izzy left in my room. What sort of movies do you like?"

[identity profile] jarodpretends.livejournal.com 2007-02-18 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
"I like talking animals," Jarod decided, "and cartoons, and stuff that blows up. No girls, though."

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2007-02-18 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Then we're stuck with what's on TV." Jack hopped up, grabbed the remote, and offered it to Jarod.
