The Roof [Thursday, After Classes]

Claire had picked up a few more gardening books at the library and decided to head up to the roof to check out what was there and what kind of space she might have to plant things for the fall.

It wasn't a big garden and there was certainly an interesting assortment of plants. She idly considered expanding it some.

"I'm not a fucking biologist," he said, reaching for his cigarettes because now he really needed to smoke. "You tried to give me your blood in that other place when I'd gotten hurt. Said it would heal me. Hell, I've seen drug pushers say the same thing. Snort this and you'll feel line!"

Okay, he was pushing it a little but he was in a bad mood and at least he was sharing the truth.

"I told you that my blood would heal you," she repeated.

Claire took a moment to consider that. Was it possible that her regenerative powers could be useful for other people? That's sure what it sounded like. She might need to find Dr. Suresh and ask him about it.

"I... I didn't know that," she said. "I heal, but, it never occurred to me that my blood could heal others."

"Well, there you go, I've educated you," he said flippantly, swirling an arm in the air. "That doesn't mean I want your blood now either. I'll take the shoulder pain. Seen enough blood."

"I wasn't going to offer it," Claire said. "I have no idea how it works and I wouldn't want to do anything that might harm you."

"Kind of you," he said, smirking some and taking a long drag off his cigarette before getting tired of it and flicking it over the roof's edge. "You should probably find out how it works."

Aww, that was almost kind.

"Make sure I'm telling you the truth and not just bullshitting for the sake of bullshit," he added, returning her sweet smile of earlier. Hey, no one said he couldn't be an absolute bastard while being honest. It was still good advice.
