Fifth Floor Common Room | Evening | Monday | January 11

Having all of his classes tomorrow didn't mean Bod was going to stay in his room and make it an early night. He'd thought about taking another walk down to the graveyard but decided to save that for later in the week. There was time and Bod knew neither he nor the graveyard was going anywhere for awhile.

So, he'd wandered down the hall, book in hand, to the common room. Yeah, he knew he could have just closed himself in his room to read but the common room was bigger and had food. Food that Bod immediately started scrounging for. It was a little difficult to do considering he was holding his book open with one hand and reaching blindly into the refrigerator with the other. He'd pulled out the box of baking soda three times.

Putting the book down would have been easier, Bod knew, but not as fun. So, he kept trying. That box of baking soda got pulled out two more times.

[open common room is open!]

"If not, you can always order something," Bruce offered. Helpfully.

Mat smiled. "That's bloody accommodating of you," he said. "I'd love a sandwich."

"That's not going to happen. The sandwich delivery on this island is horrible," Bruce said.

He was still bitter about not getting a sandwich on Saturday.

"And you're not the sandwich delivery?" Mat replied, looking a bit confused.

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
"No, I'm not. So giving me your order isn't improving the delivery record," Bruce said.

Mat's expression turned a little sulky (not that he would admit to that. He never looked sulky. Or pouty. Really). "Who is, then?"

"Probably nobody in the dorm," Bruce said. "You'll probably have to call a restaurant."

"With the telephone thing?" Mat made a face. "I couldn't get it to work right this weekend."

"I had some trouble with mine, too," Bruce said, thinking back. Maybe the sandwich shop never got his order. "Try it again. It may be better now."

"Am I supposed to have it with me?" Mat asked, blinking. "I keep it in my room."

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Most people keep their with them so they can make calls whenever they want," Bruce explained.

"I didn't know people knew my number until yesterday," Mat admitted. "I still don't know my number."

[identity profile] willbethenight.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know it either. Actually, I don't even know your name," Bruce said.

Although once he learned it, he'd know the number.

Yes, Bruce memorized the phone numbers from the student directory. And the room numbers. And roommates.

That was thorough of him! Kind of creepy, but thorough.

"Mat Cauthon," Mat replied. "Nice to meet you."

"Bruce Wayne," Bruce said. He didn't give the number. He didn't want to tip his hand to anyone that he studied that kind of thing.
