E-Mail to Magic/Support Members and Poster in the Dorm Lobby

To: Magic/Support Reserves Members

(or those considering attending - all are welcome and we have free cookies!)

The meeting for Wednesday, August 11th is canceled due to guinea pig and maenad trauma. Please join us next week!

However, there are still free cookies! You can find them in the dorm lobby.

Underneath the poster, for those of you who are already in the dorm lobby.


Chocolate chip. When recovering from a weekend in hell, go for the classics.

James spied the dark-hared student putting up the poster in the lobby, and noticed the cookies.

"Bold move, offering chocolate chip," he said, his tone friendly, his eyebrow raised.

Francine gave the bit of Blu-tack holding down the bottom left corner one more smush to make sure the poster didn't flap, then turned to look at him. "Why is it bold? Chocolate chip isn't anything fancy."

Francine grinned back. "That's kind of the point. They're bribe-cookies. We want hangers-on!"

"Even those without magic?" he asked, taking a bite of a cookie. "I cannot believe how many people here have the gift, or the talent."

"Sure!" Francine nodded. "That's what the Support part is for. Not that people with powers can't do support stuff too, but you don't need to be a wizard to help bandage somebody up after a fight."

"Or support people can get supplies to the fighters and magic users so they don't have to stop what they're doing, make maps, whatever." Not that Francine was the mapmaking type. She was more the chocolate chip cookies type.

James had made a few maps, and said so. "This place feels at times like a military school. Even the hobbies lean towards that."

That was a new thought for Francine. "I guess it depends on what you want to do here? I mean, my hobbies are mostly baking things. But the island does tend to get invaded a lot, and a lot of people come from places where they might have to fight when they go home."

"'Might' is if I'm lucky. I think 'will fight' is more apt," he said with an easy grin, as if it were nothing.

"Now, baking, that's a fine hobby." Boy had a thing for the occasional sweets.
