Fifth Floor Common Room [Saturday Evening]

Triela hadn't woken up any younger... but she couldn't remember what she was doing sitting on the floor of the common room. She actually didn't remember that this room was a common room. It seemed wholly unfamiliar to her.

She looked down at her clothes. At least those were familiar. Sort of.

Now she looked around, blinking wide-eyed as she tried to remember where she was. Or what she was doing there.

She must have sat down for a reason, right?

"Bears have special hiding abilities?" Triela asked a bit absently. Something felt... familiar... Was she remembering this little girl from somewhere, maybe?

"I think so. Mister Bear is allays telling me about stuff bears can do. I think he makes some stuff up but that's okay 'cause he let's me cry on him when I'm scared an' he tells me heroes stories when I can't asleep."

"That's very nice of him." Triela was kind of having the conversation on auto pilot, and was a bit surprised as her hand reached out to turn a doorknob.

Did she think there was a bear in there?

"He's a very nice bear." Since they'd stopped, Momoko took a moment to lean down and scratch her leg. "That's why I want to find him so he won't be a'scared no more, 'cause he's nice to me even if no one else is."

"Why isn't anyone else nice to you?" Triela asked as she flicked on the light and looked around the room.

Huh...

There were some bears on that dresser over there. They seemed... familiar? Is that him?" she asked, pointing.

Momoko let go of Triela's hand and eagerly ran to look at the dresser, jumping to try to see on top and around all of Triela's bears. "Where? Where? I can't see him!"

"The... one with the ribbon?" There were actually two bears with ribbons there. But Triela had a feeling that neither of them was named 'Mister Bear'.

Still more bouncing. "I don' see! Yours are in th'way!" Maybe she needed a boost? "MISTER BEAR! ARE YOU UP THERE?! No hidin'!!"

"Mine?" Triela didn't have any bears.

Did she?

Momoko was a bit busy pulling on the handles of the dresser to try to climb up and seeeeeeee, so she didn't really register the level of Triela's confusion. "Yeah. Is Mister Bear behind yours? He likes havin' tea parties, 'specially with other bears. He says it's a'cause he's a gennelman."

"Let me give you a hand," Triela offered, coming up behind Momoko to lift her up. It would be bad if she fell off the dresser, after all.

"Thank you." Momoko automatically replied and let go of the dresser, trying to stretch as she was lifted. "I don't see him up here." She reached for the larger of the ribboned bears she did see, picking him up and looking behind, just in case.

"You have lotsa bears, Triela. You must really really really like bears!"

"Are you sure these are mine?" Triela asked, setting Momoko back down onto the floor.

"Yeah huh!" Momoko nodded eagerly. "I've been in your room lotsa lotsa times, memember? So I've seen 'em lots too."

She put her hands to her waist and looked around the room. "Mister Bear isn't anywheres an' it's mostly dark."

"Well, remember that he's a very tough bear. He can probably take care of himself, you know."

"Yeah. He's allays tellin' me stories about his 'ventures." Momoko dropped her hands and sighed, looking at Treila with big eyes. "So you don't think he's losted for reals?"

"He's probably just on one of his adventures," Triela said, hoping she sounded reassuring.

"...Kay." Triela had lotsa bears so she proba'ly was a 'axpert. Momoko sank to the floor. "I miss him, though. An' he's s'posed to wake me up for cartoonses an' tell me stories an make sure I don't gets bad dreams and walk me to the baffroom in the dark."

"Well, is there anyone who can do that while he's off adventuring?" Triela asked, crouching down in front of Momoko.

Uh... hmm.

"I dunno? It's allays Mister Bear! Forevers!" Or, at least for as long as she could remember.

"If you had to ask someone to watch out for you, who would it be?"

Momoko poked at the floor and shrugged her shoulders. "I dunno."

"I'm sure you can think of someone," Triela said gently.

"There's lotsa peoples but none never stays! Just Mister Bear!" Ah! She leaned forward, getting into Triela's space. "YOU!"

... "Me?"
