Deck | Afternoon | Friday | April 22

Even if it was chillier than previous days, Nathan wasn't going to let that stop him from eating an ice cream cone he'd picked up in town. He'd only had a few bucks on him and ended up having to make the devastatingly difficult choice between ice cream and alcohol. In the end, he'd given his liver a break for the afternoon and gone with the ice cream.

Now, his long limbs were sprawled lazily in a chair, feet up and eyes hidden behind a pair of sunglasses. The clouds overhead would protect his fair skin from a burn even if he hadn't been wearing a soft hoodie and jeans. It was chilly but he was comfortable. He felt good.

Nathan would have liked to say he'd been busy thinking about important things but really, his mind was a complete blank save for the occasional explicit mental image that popped in there. Hey, he was a guy and that happened. He made no apologies for his dirty nature.

[Open deck so open, yes]

"Stop it, you'll make me feel like I'm kicking a puppy," Kate replied, her tone a little gentler. "Wanna talk about it?"

She... wasn't really expecting a yes, but it seemed like a good idea to offer, anyway.
vanillajello: (Try again maybe I'll buy it.)

"Well, welcome to my life around the time you showed up," she said wryly, if not at all accusingly. "Think crap things will stop happening if you go home?"
vanillajello: (Calm and looking at you.)

"Well, as long as you're optimistic," Kate drawled. "Although in my experience, there's no other place in the world that you can find such variety of crap things as right here in Fandom."
vanillajello: (Not really.)

"I do." She was one of the few people she knew who actually believed in that working, after all. She wrinkled her nose. "Just... stay in touch, okay? You suck for leaving, but I like you."
vanillajello: (Yeah right.)

"Last guy to tell me that ended up dead within six months," Kate had to point out. And then she tilted her head thoughtfully and frowned. "... Although that didn't mean I was actually rid of him since he was undead and all, so fair point I guess."
vanillajello: (Maybe I disagree.)

"With the frequency of people turning up vampires around me?" She shook her head. "Not really no."
vanillajello: (Probably lying.)

"Probably for the best," Kate agreed. Really, she was getting tired of promises that got broken because people had absolutely no power over them. They were just depressing.

She straightened up in her chair a bit. "Any big plans tonight?"
vanillajello: (Blah blah blah.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-04-22 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nope. But I do know I don't have anywhere to be until my date with Bod tomorrow."

Not that she was concocting any plans or anything right now. Nooo sir.
vanillajello: (Talking to T.)

"Not unless the word 'sex' is followed by the words 'on the beach', and refers to that drink," Kate replied without missing a beat. "But technically, yes, I'm asking you out. I was gonna go off-island, anyway."
vanillajello: (Easy days easier words.)

[personal profile] vanillajello 2011-04-23 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly," Kate replied, already pushing herself up from her seat. "If you're gonna leave, might as well make the time before it memorable."
vanillajello: (Oh I'm actually listening.)

"Let's." Kate smirked at him before shoving her hands into her pockets again and turning to start making her way away from the deck and eventually towards the causeway and the mainland beyond.

It was entirely possible she'd end up regretting this in the morning, but that would merely mean they'd done something right.
