Third Floor Common Room, Sunday Morning

It had been bad enough to wake up as a pony. Now Topher was realizing that his hooves made it impossible to play video games. Video games. IT WAS KILLING HIM. He stomped around on the controllers, trying to figure out a system, but his tiny character just kept getting blasted with fire that he could have avoided if he had had opposable thumbs, damnit.

Stupid controller.

Then it cracked under his hooves. Frustrated, Topher flopped down on the ground in front of the TV. This sucked.

If a pony could look deadpan, Scully would. Don't tease the pony, don't tease the pony...

"So, you want us to find you some boxer shorts?" That wouldn't be at all difficult. "Or should I be wearing a bikini? We might find someone with magic who could pull it off."

The neigh-giggle that escaped Scully freaked her out enough to make her twirl in a circle wondering where that sound came from, then stop and say, still deadpan, "I promise not to look?"

Yeah, this was going to be interesting when it wore off. Hmm. "I hope we're wearing clothes when it ends," she said, thinking aloud. "Although waking up in bed naked isn't so terrible, I suppose, if it ends overnight...."

Scully gave a sympathetic nicker. Rolled her eyes again at the sound. "This is going to just be one of those Fandom things that you never, ever, speak of again. Unless someone feels like they can tease you about waking up hungover in a graveyard."

Thanks, Jake.

[ooc: Your shocked-pony-Topher icon is killing me.]

"Something to look forward to. Or, well, not," Scully said gamely. Physical transformations were apparently hard enough for the kid to handle. "How long have you been here in Fandom?"

"Ahh. With the Vikings." Scully had assiduously avoided the very tall drunken people, but she'd enjoyed parts of the Old West. "And the spiders, I'm guessing. Your first bit of personal weirdness, though?"

Not dirty, no, not at all!

"You're getting the hang of it, then," Scully agreed. "I suspect the Island just wants us to get rid of all our inhibitions so we can function better after we graduate." She paused. "Or it thinks its funny."

She hated anthropomorphizing the Island, but she was really beginning to suspect it had a rudimentary intelligence.

"It is. And gears." Scully could speak as someone who'd helped try to repair the thing. "At least, the mechanism that moves us around is. Complicated, but very physical and real." She made a face. "But whatever turns us into things...?"

She was not entirely certain. "Not that I have any evidence, other than the humiliation factor."

[identity profile] showmetheproof.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hmm. Maybe it's always in a state of disrepair?" Scully posited. "Or breaking down? You're not wrong, that could explain it."

And the very random-ness just insured that *some* of what happened would be awkward. "I wish we had blueprints for that part and could fix it, then. I don't want to be five again." Liar.

[identity profile] showmetheproof.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"It zapped a lot of people to five," Scully said dryly. "There was a great deal of dress-up and eating cake for a weekend, and attending a circus birthday party. And refusing to take naps."

She hadn't needed a nap, thank you. "Some people stayed teens though, like Kate has stayed human." Which would mean... "You'd get stuck with babysitting duty if it happened that way, though."

[identity profile] showmetheproof.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes," Scully said, her pony expression distasteful. "Which is awkward, to say the least. The wrong clothes and underwear are the least of it. It lasted two days." She'd been very, very annoyed to wake up the second day and not be a girl already again. "Two!"

[identity profile] showmetheproof.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good luck with that," Scully told him, not wanting to take away *all* of the hope of a flying blue unicorn. That would just be cruel.

Also, she didn't know yet that it worked on alumni, too.

"Some of the invasions tend to last longer, but they're fairly easy to avoid."

[identity profile] showmetheproof.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Pretty much," Scully admitted. "Though the entire dorm has always seemed pretty safe. We usually set up a first aid and food station in the lobby, for people coming back in from whatever fighting or investigating they've been doing." She cocked her head. "Unless you're being turned into something, that is. I don't know where you hide from that."
