Third Floor Common Room, Sunday Morning

It had been bad enough to wake up as a pony. Now Topher was realizing that his hooves made it impossible to play video games. Video games. IT WAS KILLING HIM. He stomped around on the controllers, trying to figure out a system, but his tiny character just kept getting blasted with fire that he could have avoided if he had had opposable thumbs, damnit.

Stupid controller.

Then it cracked under his hooves. Frustrated, Topher flopped down on the ground in front of the TV. This sucked.

"That teacher has had a lifetime to get used to having four legs!" Billy pointed out. "Maybe the island hates some people that much, but we shouldn't all get punished."

Oh, Billy. What hadn't he done?

"Well, I hacked some files the other day," Topher said, pretending to think about it. "And I was rude to, like, everyone."

"Maybe you got hit by whatever this is to keep you from hacking. 'Cause that's really pretty bad," Billy pointed out. Maybe Topher didn't know that!

"Wow, thanks!" Topher said, dripping with sarcasm. "That's a great point! Just like cursing! I guess you and me are in the same boat, huh?"

"Not even remotely. At least cursing isn't illegal!" Billy said. "Whenever people have told me about the island turning everyone into stuff, they've said it lasted for like, a day. It has to wear off, or half the population would be animals. Or, would have already been, at least."

...Oh, Billy. So cute, so naive, and so the kind of person the Tophers of the world tried to eat alive.

"Oh, I wasn't doing the illegal kind of hacking," Topher told him. "Mine was authorized by the FBI. I'm a spy. Shh."

...No one said he was good at eating people alive.

Luckily for Topher, he didn't have to be very good. "What? You can't work for the FBI. You're just a student. That'd be..." Ridiculously awesome? "Weird."

Topher shrugged his shoulderless shoulders. "Certified genius, what can I say?" he said. "The FBI just had to have me. I'm younger than I look, and I'm here on a super secret mission."
