Crush party!- 6th floor common room- Friday night

Today was a busy one, and as soon as the play was over it was time to dash back to the dorms to make all the last-minute touch-ups for the party. It was as beachified as someplace in the dorms could be, there were plenty of (non-alcoholic) tropical drinks, and glitter everywhere.

Glitter, sand, totally the same thing.

And, Annie decided, considering the rampant "Do you want to go to the party?" happening last night, it was probably a good thing they hadn't gone the bouncer route.

[OCD going up! If you want to come and haven't received an invitation, totally feel free to say Annie tracked you down and invited you. So, technically open to all! *nods*]

And cue the confused blinking. "No," he said slowly. "Why should you be?"

Rebecca almost sighed. Clearly she had another Peter on her hands. Even if hearing such a thing would probably make Ben cry or something.

"What, do you say that to all the girls?" she teased. Or, well, she meant it to be teasing. God only knew how Anakin would take it.

Super-seriously, like he tended to?

"I'm a Jedi," he maintained, shrugging. "Helping people's what we do. I can't stand around and watch people get hurt, even if it is just a short drop to the grass."

...damn it, that totally took away from the flirtatious implications she'd mistakenly picked up. Pity.

"So, what, that's a kind of cop?" she guessed.

Ahahahahaha, like Anakin knew how to flirt. Like he knew what flirting was.

"Not really, no," he said quickly, and started in on a brief but detailed explanation of the general structure of police forces which I so do not have the brain to actually make up right now before concluding, "But Jedi Knights aren't tied to the government or any one planet or anything like that, because we're supposed to be impartial."

Ha.

"We just go where we're needed and do what we need to." Which at the moment involved a war, but that was depressing.

Rebecca blinked.

A knight. She was talking to a knight and she wasn't getting in his pants? Her life was really hard sometimes.

"...like saving girls from trees," she concluded. "Sounds like interesting work." Which was maybe a prompt for him to go on even if it needed to be narratively handwaved due to lack of brain, la.

Anakin rolled his eyes just a little bit; he couldn't help it. 'Saving girls from trees' sounded so trivial compared to what Jedi actually did! (Or compared to his concept of it, which didn't entirely match up to reality just yet.)

"No, more like stopping civil wars, or delivering top-secret messages," he said, and he almost sounded insulted. Almost.

"...you do a lot of that?" Look, it needed to be asked.

Re: Arrive/Mingle

"Sure," Anakin said with a shrug. Because really, you inadvertently discover an ancient temple and end up freeing the spirits of an entire civilization's children from thousands of years of mystical entrapment when you're eleven years old and it just snowballs from there. "Sometimes there are boring missions, too."

He sort of still refused to believe that could be the majority of them.

"...how old are you?" Rebecca asked after blinking at him a couple of times.

[identity profile] nonelikemesince.livejournal.com 2012-03-23 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Fifteen." Anakin looked at her oddly (okay, not like this was new). "What does that have to do with anything?"

[identity profile] zetabetabrat.livejournal.com 2012-03-23 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"And you stopped a civil war," Rebecca said, making her dubiousness quite clear, thank you very much.

At fifteen. At fifteen, she'd been... well, let's leave that out of it.

[identity profile] nonelikemesince.livejournal.com 2012-03-23 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, I didn't," Anakin clarified. He'd actually just tagged along on that, and it had been less a civil war than a longstanding territorial feud between a farming village and a mining colony, but to be fair he'd also been thirteen. So that had mostly been Jaina and Jacen's thing. "I just helped. But that's just an example of the things we do."

"Oh, I see." Okay, that was different, then. "And you're, like, some kind of intern."

Yes, Rebecca, that was a smart thing to say. Really now.

Re: Arrive/Mingle

[identity profile] nonelikemesince.livejournal.com 2012-03-23 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
". . . intern?" Oh, good, now he sounded scandalized. Or possibly horrified.

Re: Arrive/Mingle

[identity profile] zetabetabrat.livejournal.com 2012-03-23 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"You know," Rebecca explained, waving a hand. "Like an assistant."

Re: Arrive/Mingle

[identity profile] nonelikemesince.livejournal.com 2012-03-23 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not an assistant," Anakin said emphatically, scowling. "I'm an apprentice Jedi Knight."

Big difference there to someone not familiar with the Order, Anakin. Really.

Re: Arrive/Mingle

[identity profile] zetabetabrat.livejournal.com 2012-03-23 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"...apprentices and interns are kind of the same thing, no?" No, Rebecca, most interns didn't have to get stupid hair for the job, duh.

Re: Arrive/Mingle

[identity profile] nonelikemesince.livejournal.com 2012-03-23 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
HEY. His hair was a mess, not stupid!

"Interns are for politics and things like that," Anakin insisted.

Suuuure, narrative. Sure.

"And Jedi Knights," Rebecca said with a condescending solemn nod. "Apparently."

[identity profile] nonelikemesince.livejournal.com 2012-03-24 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Hey. HEY. He did not have a bowl cut or anything like that.

"You didn't even know what one was until a couple of minutes ago," Anakin -- didn't snap, exactly, but it was close.

Re: Arrive/Mingle

[identity profile] zetabetabrat.livejournal.com 2012-03-24 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"It's just a matter of terminology," Rebecca pointed out. "'Apprentice' is another word for intern."

Re: Arrive/Mingle

[identity profile] nonelikemesince.livejournal.com 2012-03-24 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Hello, Anakin's full-on scowly face. "Maybe in your galaxy."

Re: Arrive/Mingle

[identity profile] zetabetabrat.livejournal.com 2012-03-24 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Which is where we are right now..."

Re: Arrive/Mingle

[identity profile] nonelikemesince.livejournal.com 2012-03-24 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"That has nothing to do with it," Anakin argued. "If beings from somewhere that classifies family completely differently from most places happen to go visit somewhere else, are their relatives suddenly not their relatives any more until they get home?"

. . . don't go there, Anakin. You always think you have the clever arguments.
