Third Floor Common Room, Tuesday night

Frankly, Terry was still confused about what he missed being out of town last week. Listening to radio podcasts really didn't help matters. He was at the point where he was happy to just ignore it, focus on saving the world with Superman, and spending tonight in front of the TV watching the Olympics.

Of course, that led to stray thoughts about how his Bat-training would actually set him up to be a decent competitor, although that was slightly offset by the fact that he had chips to snack on. Did Olympians snack? Terry didn't know and didn't care enough to do the research. But Batman snacked. And that was good enough for him.

It was always when it seemed fairly quiet that Fawn bothered venturing out of her room, and this was definitely one of those times. Of course, the last time she did this, it could be argued that it didn't go very well, considering she'd have a twitching seizure panic attack right in the middle of the common room, but, well...Fawn never was very good at making logical decisions in that respect.

She entered the common room as usual: as a head, poking in, long blonde hair tumbling down as she inspected the room to judge whether it was safe to venture any further.

Clearly, the Bat-training was getting put to good use for Terry. Fawn shrunk back, just a little. It seemed that she might have shrunken back until she was just the top of a head, but she stopped and decided to step in. "No," she said, shaking her head. "I was just seeing who was in here."

And perhaps weighing the possibility of them being a complete jerk and giving her a seizure.

"What are you watching?"

Fawn gave a faint smile. "I'll pass on the chip, thanks," she said, because...well, she didn't care so much as it was just weird for her to not eat healthy, unless there were doughnuts involved. She bit her lip for a moment, considering a chair that would be easy to curl up in, and her eyes flicked to the other person.

"You're not, like, upset that you're not there, or anything, are you?" she asked with caution. The last thing she wanted to deal with was a repeat of ComicCon Meltdown 2012.

Fawn nodded her approval of this display of reasonable sanity and went to go sit down. "The last time I hung out in a common room," she explained, "the guy was going ballistic because he couldn't go to ComicCon and be the King of the Nerds. I told him that was probably a good thing, but that just made it worse."

[identity profile] yinandyango.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm the one who brought it up," Fawn admitted. "I didn't really mean it as a good thing, but I guess he thought otherwise. It was..."

She frowned, searching for the right word.

"Odd."

[identity profile] yinandyango.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
That almost sounded like a challenge.

"Prince of the Middle of the Road?" Fawn tried. "Emperor of Sensible Reactions?"

[identity profile] yinandyango.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
"A little less pretense," Fawn agreed. "And I'm--" For two-point-five seconds, she thought of making up name, "Fawn."

Fawn shrugged. "I don't remember the Not-King-of-the-Nerd's name," she countered mildly.

Although, really, that could have had to do with the seizure. Or just a pervasive sense of complete apathy.

"Oh thank God," Jack said plopping down on the couch. "Sports. Perfect. Absolutely perfect."

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Something pink," Jack responded with a serious nod. "Or if the TV had a grudge against me? Jersey Shore."

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Well on occasion the TV's have a mind of their own," Jack said with a sigh. "So even though you change the channel? You're still stuck watching creepy kids shows. Or a reality show you really don't need to see."

Granted you just leave and read a book somewhere else but that wasn't the point.

"I'm of the opinion that anything can happen around here," Jack said holding out his hand for a handshake. "Jack Carter, by the way."

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah and last week was no picnic either," Jack said with a nod. "I'm amazed no one around hasn't gotten PTSD."

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Jack frowned as he scratched his head. "Yeah, I might be the wrong guy to ask," he admitted. "Something magical with alternate timelines and it turned this place into a police state with a crazy woman in charge. It wasn't pleasant."

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
"No kidding," Jack smirked. "Where do you call home?"

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, well, that's probably for the best," Jack replied. "I'm from a little town called Eureka which is... also on the odd side. Still haven't gotten used to the place though."

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh?" Jack said looking curious. "Who was that?"

[identity profile] exactlyaverage.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Gotham. Bruce Wayne. Jack groaned and rubbed his head.

"Oh! Him," he said shaking his head. "Yeah, I remember Bruce."

And screaming like a girl in front of him last week. We'll not mention that out loud in front of Terry.
