Third Floor Common Room; Monday Morning [07/01].
Wayne was very pleased to find that everything seemed to be as he left it in the fridge for breakfast this morning; in general, he'd been using that consistency as a guage for what kind of week they'd be having, though he knew it wasn't exactly a perfect method. It seemed good enough, anyway, to indicate that he'd at the very least have a good Monday, and he figured, around here, that was pert'near all you could ask for.
He wound up with another Monday without classes for this session, too, so he was ready to get up, check his fights on hockeyfights.com, and then get at 'er, sticking with the usual breakfast fare of pancakes and eggs and bacon and coffee and juice because, 'round here, it felt good to just sort of stick with something consistent when you could, since who knew what he'd have to go and improvise with the next week?
So far? So good.
[[ wayne is very upset with me right now because I seriously almost forgot about this this morning, lol. Open breakfast is open, as always! Come and get it! ]]

"Hey, Wayne! How do things look so far?"
no subject
Was it a dramatic pause? Was he really taking his time to consider the answer? Had Wayne actually forgotten that he was smack dab in the middle of an answer?
Hard to tell, but just as it got to feel like maybe he had forgotten, he swung in with a hearty, "so good."
And he was fixing up a plate for her already, mostly just glad to actually see her this morning since she'd seemed to miss the last few. She was usually the best bet against leftovers, after all.
"How are ya now?"
no subject
"No complaints," she chirped. "Just a Monday with some great food on the way and no classes until tomorrow morning! And how are you doing?"

"Weapons with Diaz and Blackstone tomorrow morning, Bananas with Smith on Thursday, and then Gladiators on Friday with Diaz
I swear I didn't do that on purpose wait what omgbecause last semester was way too much fun to pass up one where I get to, I don't know, shoot tennis balls at the Dean or something. And they're all first period classes, so I don't even have to worry about shifting my work schedules at the scrapyard or the gun shop around too much!"no subject
*insert maniacle cackling here*"Sounds like everything worked out pretty well for you, then," said Wayne, with a firm sort of tone of approval, with a small nod of his head to go along with it any everything. "I'll still have to get a late start on my own scrapyard shift on Tuesday, but that's no diff'rent than last time around, and I guess I'll see you in the Banana class...which should be....interestin'...."
Hey, he wasn't stuck in Quote-Unquote-Wilderness again and the threat of glitter seemed...reduced, so while it was all looking a bit light for his tastes, he had no complaints yet.

She shrugged. Ate another piece of bacon.
"Field trip classes are always a little weird for me."
no subject
"Right," he said, answering his own question before it had even finished forming, "on account of the whole blue alien thing, I s'pose."
no subject
Anyway, Earth was... quaint. She didn't figure she was missing out on too much, there.
no subject
"Now what..." he ventured, blinked, and tried again, as if really trying to get a grapple on this idea for a class that he was clearly never even going to be a part of, "now what if that class was specifically about things like travelin' into space? That would be different, now, wouldn't it?"
no subject
It could be fun! It would be pretty! Hopefully!

But, while they were on the topic of space travel, and there were questions that weren't impolite, he said, "I never did get the chance to ask you...how was your trip back home? Lana said you had a chance to go, and I've been meaning to get after it."
It may have been a while, sure, but he had been meaning to ask, and Wayne was the sort of person to ask about some little detail you'd mentioned to him months after the fact, sometimes when the other person had already forgotten about it.

"Oh, wow," she laughed, "word travels, huh? It was kind of nice. I mean. Not Nar Shaddaa. Nar Shaddaa was just as rusty and smelly and dangerous as I remember it. But I got to reconnect with the gang, and whatever connection Portalocity opened to let me through seems to have stayed open since. I can call them up any time, now! And Sidon was excited to get to visit, too. Though I think a lot of it was just him being polite so that I wouldn't be insulted, at least after the novelty wore off."
A beat.
"I mean, I'm the first person who'll tell you the whole moon is nasty, though."
no subject
But Wayne nodded again, seeming satisfied with that answer as he went to go pour another pancake. "S'good to hear you had a good trip, then," he said. "S'prolly nice to get home for a little bit, 'specially if it's been a while."
And, he figured, if it was likeleh pretty different. Sure, he could go on and on about how different this place was from Letterkenny, but it still wasn't all that different...
...once you got past all the aliens and the space stuff and the monsters and the occassional lack of color, anyway.

There was a squinting, thoughtful moment.
"M'not sure I'd put a whole lot of faith in those portals, either, though," he admitted. "What's to say it's not just going to up and throw you somewhere else entirely?"
no subject
The smart thing to do would have been to find her way home and stay there forever.
But, well...

"I touched a thingie and there was a flash of light," she mumbled. "And the next thing I knew, boom, Portalocity terminal at the airport," not even a spaceport, how quaint, "wondering why there was so much glitter around me."
... She'd since stopped wondering, clearly.

She'd smiled in the mirror to inspect the glitter situation in her teeth, and for a half-second she was faintly impressed by her accidental Sidon impersonation.
"Serves me right, not checking for glitterbombs, though."
no subject
But great. Outstanding. Now he was gonna have to check...for glitterbombs.
no subject
Because boy howdy, was he in for a great time there.
no subject
"Oh, fuck," he said. "Fuck, no. There hasn't been."
But now he could just imagine.
