Third Floor Common Room; Monday Morning [10/28].
Now what kind of buck futtery was all this, then?
Monday Morning Breakfast was going to be a bit later than usual today, because of course Wayne would have spent a good chuck of time when he first arrived in the common room trying to figgur out all that was wrong with the lights. It did start to become clear at some point, though, that, whatever it was, it was more'n likeleh just the island messin' with them as it had been pretty consistently for the last week, so Wayne, running out of logical solutions to an illogical problem anywhey, just said fuck it and got to cooking by candlelight, because everything else was working and then there was the fact that he'd opened a drawer to find nothing but tapered candles just waiting to be lit.
Gave the whole place a certain atmosphere, that was fer sure, especially when you considered all the scurrying in the shadows and especially if you considered that the scurrying today sounded quite a bit different than the usual scurrying of squirrels he'd gotten quite a bit used to.
[[ i'd have a candlelit breakfast. Open, of course! ]]

"And no need to go underfed, as there's still breakfast," he added, importantly, before launching into a good old, "Okuyasu. How are ya now?"
Even though they, you know, lived together and had been in the same room probably not even an hour ago.

Like, never, right?

"Can't ever expect anyone to go and fix yer problems fer you," he agreed, "but you can have someone fix yer plate. You hungry?"
no subject
"I'll always take free food," Okuyasu said, going to give Wayne a friendly clap on the shoulder. "Helps with the budget, after all."
He laughed a bit at that. He was weirdly fond of his... care with his money.

But he filled up the plate pretty well, figuring that the more he had, the better his....budget would be.
At least, he thought he did. It was a bit hard to see, and all.

He took the plate and started eating. "And you're probably the second best cook I've ever met."

It really was a unique dining experience.

Not that it had stopped her from wreathing herself with a halo of golden light so that she wasn't stuck in the dark, mind, but.
She liked those stories.
"Hi, Okuyaaaaaaaaaasuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How are you?????????????????"

"I am glowing," she said cheerfully. "I did it to myself and, like, I could make you into a—candle—if you want????????????????? I just didn't want to sit in the dark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
no subject
It was only ever going to be him. "Like... magic?"
no subject
'Pretty good' was underselling herself. Nina wasn't in the top 1% of mages, but she was easily in the top 10%, possibly top 5%.

He was rambling, it was early and he wasn't quite firing on all cylinders.
no subject
"I can do a lot," Nina admitted, since it was true, especially if she was given enough time to prepare. "Mostly, though, I summon things??????????? Like, today I'm summoning light?????????????"

She took a sip of the tea, and smiled when she lowered the cup again. "Good morning, Okuyasu. How are you?"
no subject
He rubbed his hands together a bit. "And you? How are you doing?
no subject
"Fine, thanks," she nodded. All the heist stuff was giving her a little bit of a headache at this point, but she didn't want to complain. "And I don't think they've been...too odd." Her gauge for that sort of thing was a little skewed, though, admittedly. "I'd rather have cats everywhere and those bird creatures in cute costumes over some of the other stuff that's happened before..."
no subject
He shook his head and made a face. "That was really bad."
He still didn't care to be around stuffed animals after that business.

She sipped her tea again, and then blinked. "Oh!" she said, wondering what had gotten into her and was pretty sure it had to do with hands. "Tea. I haven't offered you any tea yet, Okuyasu. Would you like some?"
