Had Nina planned on having a party when she'd woken up that morning?

Nnnnnnnnnnnope!

But, like, really when the gremlins had burst into her room that morning to carol at her about some harking herald singing or something like that, Nina had a) hid under her blankets and made a despairing noise because ladies were supposed to be woken by soulful serenading and not… that… and b) had started pondering ways to use this since it was clearly the method of madness that the island was going with today.

Hence. A party! Then all she'd needed was a theme, to really tie it all together, and the island did tend to lend itself to a certain direction…………… so, like, some frantic Googling (she loved the internet), some tromping about in the snow being trailed by gremlin carolers as she bought things and then, by evening, she had it all ready to go.

Okay, SO LIKE, we've got carolers, we've got (courtesy of me) hot drinks, bonbons, and various other possibly holiday related foodstuffs, and I've got SO MANY decorations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That means it's time for a party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When? Where? Right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the second floor common room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, cool. Email sent out! Now to see if anyone else was willing to help her do this or if the rest of the dorms would just be subjected to her idea of holiday decorating! Mwahaha!

And, in the corner, on the impromptu stage she'd set up for them, the caroling gremlins sang their little hearts out.

Yeah, like Prompto could miss an impromptu party thrown by Nina! He was pretty sure he was pretty much socially obligated to come if he could, but, even if he wasn't, he'd be there. With bells on!

Well, not literal bells. Although, now that he thought about it, he wouldn't be surprised if that was one of the things that happened. But he wasn't going to say it, lest he jinx them, SABINE.

"S'up, party people?" he said, instead, and he was, at least, wearing his Santa hat.

HE LIKED IT OKAY.

And, really, he was sort of lucky he hadn't spent the day being roped into party planning.......

"Promptooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Of course she was going to crashing all in for a glittery hug. "Ohmygosh, you're wearing a Santa hat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Why hadn't she thought of that?!

Prompto was going to happily take that glittery hug, too, and return it in kind (although perhaps a whole lot less glittery), before taking a moment to bring his hands up to the hat as if to adjust it, although he knew for a fact he'd perfected its exact jauntiness to withstand even a Nina-force hug.

Because, really, it was more like that he hadn't stopped wearing it, if anything.

"Grog saved one for me," he said, grinning proudly. "Pretty cool, right? Not a bad way to get into the holiday spirit!"

For a holiday he'd never even heard of before last year, but whatever! Holidays were great, no matter where they came from.

Besides, like, it was hard to not get into the spirit when the island was super determined to make them all celebrate it!

"That was awesome of Grog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she said, stepping back to survey him approvingly. "It really makes the whole month just that much better, doesn't it???????????????? Foomy loves his hat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Miss Dozy... not so much.

"He's a pretty good guy," Prompto grinned, "that Grog. And I'm still sort of bummed I missed the actual hat day, even if those videos you sent were the best. Still can't beat if I was actually there, you know?"

"No, it's true," she said. "It's, like, one thing to hear about it and, like, another thing entirely to just watch it after the fact????????????????"

Nina shrugged a little.

"So, like, what really needs to happen is that next winter if I wake up with a hat on my head, you've got to come visit immediately..........."

At first, Prompto was thinking come visit was a funny way to put it, because he could obviously just pop on down from upstairs, but then it struck him that, wait, no, that was exactly the right way to put it, because he'd be graduating in the spring, and it'd be back in Insomnia for good after that.

Funny how that kind of made him a little sad, when he'd been ready to get the hell out of this place several times over the last summer...

He pushed those thoughts aside, though, breaking out into a crooked grin instead. "Immediately?" he teased. "Even if I'm, like, right in the field? Magitek armies on all sides, just be all...hey, sorry, dudes, gotta dip, there's hats!"

Now that he said it, though, he would 110% like to be able to dip on that situation for even less than hats, really.

Nina was being brave about him leaving now but, like, come summer she was going to be a sad, sad little sister, she really was. It was best that she start trying to cope now.

She laughed.

"Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Of course! "Like, grab the guys and drag them all here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hats for all of them instead of armies of doom to face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And, like, she was pretty sure all of them would prefer the hats over armies of doom.

Well, Noctis would probably claim to prefer armies of doom over those hats, but, like, it's not like anyone would actually believe him.

"And yeah," added Prompto, "I'm sure those Nifs'll totally just be all," he waved his hand, "'oh, no, bros, you're cool. Go get your hats on.'"

Puh-lease, she'd stick a hat on him, shove him and Prompt in front of a video game console and he'd be totally cool with basically everything. FIGHT HER.

"Or maybe, maaaaaaaaaaaybe," she said, giggling now, "they'll all be super, super jealous of your hats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And if Nina was giggling, Prompto couldn't help chuckling.

"There we go," he said. "We'll put it in a treaty. The key to world peace? Outfitting the entire Niflheim army with a million of these."

He gave the ball at the end of his hat a little flick, with another chuckle, although he had to admit he found the idea of Magitek soldiers wearing these hats a little unnerving.

But that's how he felt about Magitek soldiers in general.

Even if...

Nope. Not thinking it.

"Hey," subject change!, "Sabine said there was even wine or something coming out of the taps one day, and, like, so no one could shower unless they wanted a hot wine shower."

"Nope!!!!!!!!!!!" she denied quickly. "No, no, no, we are not talking about wine day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

That had been a terrible day. No one had seen her.

And for good reason.

"Okay, okay!" Prompto laughed, holding up his hands in surrender. "No mentioning the wine day, duly noted! How about some speculation on what might still be ahead? It doesn't sound like we've gotten to the mistletoe yet."

That was one of the few things he actually remembered from last year, actually, but, considering how it'd gone, it was kind of hard to forget.

"We have not gotten to that day yet," Nina agreed, looking a little doubtful about the whole thing. "And it's really sort of rude of it to even happen..........."
