To get in the spirit of the upcoming trip a little, Wayne decided to do a few things...different for breakfast that morning, after doing a little bit of research over the weekend and figuring there's be all sorts of fuss over him deviating from the typical fare as if he didn't ever do anything like that before.

Sure, sure, there were still all the usuals. You had to have pancakes 'cause they were the foundation of the tradition, and all the usual meats and eggs and potatoes and fruits, but he thought he'd also throw in a little tapsilog and some tortang giniling with pork in there, too.

Because, when you got right down to it, they weren't really that far from the stuff he'd traditionally make, anyway, just with a little bit of a touch of something new and interesting. Which was a thing he did, from time to time, it was just not anything he planned on getting too carried away with!

Just don't expect him to actually pronounce the names of the food properleh. He couldn't even get some English words right, after all.

"I'm decidedly okay," she settled on, since Nina was well aware of the mess of editing she was going to have to go back and figure out after breakfast. "How are you????????????????????"

"Oh...." drawled Wayne, easily and very relieved about it. "Not so bad. Fix you up a plate?"

"Yes, please," she said primly and cutely, taking a moment to revel in the sheer normalcy of this whole conversation. "It's, like, been a while since we've done this????????????"

But it was nice to get to do it again.

"Been busy, have you?" asked Wayne, because he knew he'd been here, and he finished up loading up a plate with a little bit of everything for Nina and passed it along with a nod.

"My class," Nina said, taking that plate with a beaming smile, "is great fun but oh my gosh it keeps me busy on Mondays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

On the bright side, she was getting less and less wiped out by all the magical effort as the semester went on. This was an unorthodox way to build magical stamina but it did seem to be working…

"Which is all the more reason," said Wayne firmly, "fer you to not be skippin' it! An' you know why that is, Nina?"

"Because it's delicious??????????????"

Yes, she knew that was the wrong answer.

"It's the most important meal of the day, Nina!" Wayne said, clearly offended by this alternate answer, but also not-so-clearly pleased to have his food described as such, not that he had any doubt. "Figgur it ouwt."

"I can't help but notice it's a bit different today than usual," she noted, then decided, heck, why not really jump into the deep end with:

"Did you, like, know that the internet says that the whole breakfast being the most important meal of the day is all a scam put on by the cereal companies????????????????????"

"I've brought in some Filipino dishes," said Wayne, lifting his chin almost defiantly, because he may have been just itchin' to see if anyone was gonna go and bring it up, "in anticipation of the school trip. And it's not a very good scam, then, is it? Since we're not havin' cereal. You believe everything you read on the Internet now?"

...

Like, the real answer was no, but on the other hand...

"Yes," she said cheerfully. "Like, it makes life so much more interesting that way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

There was also that.

Wayne squinted sideways at Nina for a moment, and he thought about possibly going and listing off some of the most incredulous things he could think of and ask her if he went and posted that up on the Internet, if she'd still believe it, but he was pretty sure that she'd say yes no matter what it was he was saying and whether or not she'd actually believe it.

So he just said, "Yer spare parts, Nina, you know that?"

Followed by a staunch and immovable, "You should be havin' breakfast more, either way. 'Specially if you've got a lot of work ahead of you."

"You love me," Nina said, laughing. "But yes, alright, I'll come and try to have breakfast more often, just for your sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

That was what she was taking away from that, yes.

"....Good enough!" Wayne decided, after a moment, because that was pretty close to the mark, anyway.

"Not that it'll matter much," he added, "next week with the trip, but after that? Back to breakfast!"
