Not having any classes to go to that morning had definitely cemented it into Libby's brain that she really did just make it through her first semester at an actual school, and the whole thing had been such a wild whirlwind of experiences that she'd felt she'd only just blinked since she'd arrived her a few months ago, and now here she was. And with nothing really else to do that morning, she felt a little compelled to do something to sort of celebrate that fact. And, since they always did a little bit of a picnic back home to celebrate any big accomplishments like that, well...that's what she figured she'd do now.
The day was a little overcast, but she was confident it would hold out as she moved everything out to the deck to set up and hopefully catch anyone coming in and out of the dorms (what did most people do at a boarding school in the weeks between classes? Sleep in, maybe, she supposed, but she couldn't even imagine). It definitely wasn't anything too fancy or special, because the Hazletts didn't really do fancy or special. Just some potato salad, some coleslaw and some sandwiches, a few different fruits, a sweet potato pie, and an attempt to recreate Zo's 'Not-So-Famous' lemonade.
Like she said, nothing fancy, but they were foods that always inspired a sense of celebration and togetherness for her and her family, and she just sort of hoped that it wasn't just her and the flies around to enjoy it, but if that ended up being the case, then so be it. There were worse ways to send an afternoon.
