That got a laugh. "Are we ever not ready for shooting?"

"Point," she conceded, wrinkling her nose. "Though I'll confess to never being unarmed even in the dorms, so at the very least I'd be able to make it, and not in my pajamas to the weapons locker."

She laughed. "Please," Ino said, rolling her eyes. "I have practically half of Kabuto's wardrobe in my closet. The chances are huge I wouldn't be in my clothing. No stealing from bed-buddies, honest."

A beat.

"Well..." Uh.

"Ewwww," Ino shuddered. "Pi-rat guts! Talk about gross, Dōjima-san! Even if, really, if they were trying to kill us we wouldn't be all that worried about the guts until after the fact."

"Ewwww."

"The guts on other people and things wouldn't bother me," she admitted, giggling. "But on me? My hair? Ewww."

"There's special soaps back home," Ino said. "Dad uses them, and I know I'll wind up having to use them too, but whatever. Ick. Guts in hair is never a good thing. You're just lucky you've got guns here--we don't have them back home and have to stick with throwing knives and explosive tags at people if we want to keep our distance."

She shook her head. “They’re specially prepared bits of paper that’ll stick to things, about the size of my hand, and are inked with seals. When you channel chakra—that’s spiritual energy--into them you trigger them—you generally get about five seconds to get away from it. But it depends a lot on where you get your tags and what purpose they’ve been made for. Some won’t go off for hours after you trigger them, some are tuned to keys that you’ve got to snap to set them off instantaneously…”

Ino shrugged a bit. “They’re our all-purpose portable bomb, really.”

"Just a little different, since my world doesn't have Witches," she grinned. "And the best part is any ninja can just walk into a weapons shop and buy as many as they want--no questions asked."

"You're too old to really start training to be a ninja," Ino said, amused. "The Academy starts when we're five, and if you're from a ninja Clan, like I am, then you're learning things from the cradle."

"And wouldn't that just be another bit of manipulation?" Ino asked slyly. "If just the threat of violence made them fold like a house of cards, well then..."

"You'd know better than me," Ino conceded, undisturbed. "By the time we're called in it means there's going to be blood somewhere."

"It'd be easier, yeah," she said slowly. "But then, you know, it's not home. It doesn't fit--and that's the stupidest reasoning ever, but it's the truth."
