Shooting Range, Friday Afternoon

Ino rested easily against the wall of the range, making sure her gun was still in perfect working condition (it was) and waiting for a certain blonde.

And doing her utter best to pretend that there weren’t a bunch of morons messing with their heads right around now. Ugh. Whatever.

[Ino is here for Dōjima, though the shooting range is totally totally open.]

Dōjima laughed and shook her head. "My Clan is more into hostile takeovers of the corporate sort," she gasped, amused. "We're schooled in debate and manipulation, not knives. The very idea I might use violence might give them a heart-attack."

"And wouldn't that just be another bit of manipulation?" Ino asked slyly. "If just the threat of violence made them fold like a house of cards, well then..."

"Fold?" Dōjima smirked. "Oh, no. They'd be pissed once they got over the shock, but they won't fold."

"It's not that they're opposed to violence, it's simply that they feel it's unprofessional to get involved in such matters directly. Besides, they like to make the prey to suffer." Dōjima's smile wasn't very friendly. "Why just kill someone, when you can ruin them first?"

"You'd know better than me," Ino conceded, undisturbed. "By the time we're called in it means there's going to be blood somewhere."

"Can you not take your gun back with you?" she asked, curious. "I mean, it will probably make your job easier, right?"

"It'd be easier, yeah," she said slowly. "But then, you know, it's not home. It doesn't fit--and that's the stupidest reasoning ever, but it's the truth."
