Second Floor Common Room - Friday Morning

It had been a while since Guillermo had cooked anything but he had promised Graham that he would make a range of empanadas for him to try and he figured he could make a fresh batch for him and take some down for him since he had said he worked at the Magpie Emporium on Fridays.

It was nice to actually be cooking again, Guillermo needed to remember to occasionally tear himself away from the computer and video games and get in the habit of cooking and baking again.

In addition to the empanadas, he also decided to make some breakfast while he was at it and was making a fair amount of huevos rancheros in case anyone also decided to stop by and wanted something to eat.

[the Common Room is open!]

Time was kind of funny like that, wasn't it? And Libby couldn't really help taking a moment to think back fondly to her and Guillermo and Kurt all being so nervous and excited on the shuttle trip that brought them here, on how she didn't meet Vi until the picnic and it hadn't started out very well, but they quickly managed to find a little bit of common ground despite that rough beginning, and just how far along she'd come since then.

And that was good. Sometimes, it helped to remember that you were moving forward, especially when the temptation was there to just want to go back.

"I don't really know a lot of vampire movies," she admitted. "Just the one we watched in books and movies class." And she'd mostly liked it. It was gorgeous and full of imagination and historical, all elements that she adored, but some of the more religious and salacious aspects had definitely made her uncomfortable. "But I don't really know a lot of movies in general. We don't even have a TV back home."

"It definitely wasn't that one," Libby said, with confidence and a nod. "It was the one based on the book, by Bram Stoker. I actually did really like the book. I usually like the books better, but I liked how this one was written in the form of letters and diaries, so it was just all the characters writing down the story as it happened to them, which was a really neat idea! It made you feel closer to the characters, like you were their friends, and made me really worry about them when things started to go bad."

It also helped that it was definitely written with Victorian sensibilities in mind.

"Maybe I should see this Dialogue one, too, though," she added, "especially if it's your favorite."

"Well," Libby pointed out with a grin, "there's only one way to find out for sure, right?"

Very good call on that one, Guillermo. The one and only time Libby had actually been in that room, or any room belong to boys that she wasn't related to, really, she had spent the entirety of it just politely staring up at the ceiling and trying to figure out when the best time to make a hasty but not rude exit might be. The common room would be much safer ground.

"I've never had a proper movie night before," Libby noted, with a fascinated tone of excitement at the prospect. Not even she and Zo had done anything like that; when they hung out, they tended to just listen to music and talk. "But that sounds like it could be a lot of fun."

"I definitely don't have anything going on this weekend," Libby noted with a little bit of a shrug. "Why put it off if we don't really need to?"

"Hold on," said Libby, smirking faintly as she held up a finger. "Let me double check my schedule."

Which involved pausing for just longer than a slight moment with her eyes rolled thoughtfully to the side, and then she nodded, bouncing her grin back over to Guillermo. "Yep! Looks all clear! That should definitely work for me. Should I bring anything, too? Any particular snacks or drinks or anything like that?"

"I can definitely bring the beverages," Libby confirmed, pleased to have something to contribute other than her fresh-eyed innocence to the genre...and the event as a whole, really.

"Sounds like we've got ourselves a movie night!"
